Project Green Canopy

Project Overview

The Network for Women Empowerment, Child-Care, Rural Agri-research, and Extension launched Project Green Canopy, a ground-breaking initiative designed to support climate-resilient agriculture in the towns of Gorkha, Nuwakot, and Kavrepalanchowk. With an emphasis on the production and application of azolla, the initiative aims to provide local people with sustainable solutions for improved livestock management and rice farming through training and hands-on demonstrations.

• Azolla Training

  The project's main goal is to teach farmers how to grow azolla, an aquatic fern with nutritional value and the ability to fix nitrogen. Training seminars transmit information on how to cultivate, harvest, and incorporate azolla into current farming operations.

  
  
• Climate-Resilience

  The initiative aims to boost local agriculture's resilience to climate change by promoting azolla production. Azolla, with its ability to thrive in diverse environmental conditions, serves as a valuable tool for developing climate-resilient agricultural methods.
